📱 Data We Collect

None. BG Tutor does not collect, store, or transmit any personal information. All learning progress, quiz scores, lesson history, streaks, Stars, and achievements are stored locally on your device only and never leave your device.

If you choose to personalize the app by entering the child’s first name and selecting a gender for tutor responses, this information is also stored locally on your device only and is never transmitted to us or to any third party. It is used solely to make Mila’s lessons feel more personal (for example, greeting the child by name).

🔑 Third-Party Services

BG Tutor uses third-party services to power its AI and voice features. All connections are made via a secure server-side proxy — no API keys are ever stored on your device.

OpenAI — powers the AI Tutor (Mila’s conversational responses) and Whisper voice recognition. Your speech is sent to OpenAI for transcription and immediately discarded. See OpenAI’s Privacy Policy.

Google Cloud Text-to-Speech — converts Bulgarian and English text to authentic speech. Text phrases from lessons are sent to Google and the audio is returned. No personal data is included. See Google’s Privacy Policy.

🎤 Voice & Audio

Recording only starts when you actively tap the microphone button. Audio is sent to OpenAI’s Whisper API for transcription and deleted immediately after. We do not store, access, or retain any audio recordings.

📶 Internet Requirement

BG Tutor requires an active internet connection for most features:

• Requires internet: Listen & Repeat (Google TTS voice), Verb Conjugation (voice recognition + TTS), AI-generated lessons (OpenAI)
• Works offline: Flashcards, Word Bank, Match the Pairs, Quiz (text-only display)

💳 Subscriptions & Payments

BG Tutor offers a 2-day free trial from first launch. After the trial, continued access to all lessons and features requires an active monthly subscription. Pricing is set per platform (currently $4.99/month on both the App Store and Google Play).

All payments are processed entirely by the platform’s own payment system — Apple’s In-App Purchase on iOS, and Google Play Billing on Android. The app never collects, sees, or stores any payment card, billing address, or other financial information — that is handled entirely by Apple and Google under their own privacy policies.

The app stores only two things locally on your device: whether a subscription is currently active, and when your free trial started. No purchase history, receipts, or transaction identifiers are ever transmitted to or stored by us.

Before any purchase begins, a simple parent-verification step (a basic math question) must be completed. This exists specifically to prevent a young child from starting a purchase without a parent present.

👧 Children’s Privacy

BG Tutor is designed for children and we take their privacy seriously: no personal information is collected, no account is required, no advertising networks, no user-generated content, no social features. The app complies with COPPA and the App Store and Google Play guidelines for apps rated for children (4+).

📊 Analytics & Advertising

BG Tutor contains no advertising and uses no analytics services. No Google Analytics, no Facebook SDK, no AdMob, no third-party tracking of any kind.
